Patternmaking Fundamentals: Customize Your Fit

Learn the foundations of patternmaking in this hands-on intermediate workshop designed for experienced sewists interested in fashion design, sewing, or creating custom garments. You’ll learn how patterns work, how to take basic measurements, understand pattern markings, and begin creating or adjusting simple pattern pieces.

  • How to trace, adjust, and work with beginner-friendly pattern pieces

What You’ll Make

Guests will create or adjust a simple beginner-friendly pattern piece during class. This may include a basic bodice, skirt, sleeve, tote-style shape, or other foundational pattern exercise depending on the class date.

Materials Included

  • Pattern paper

  • Measuring tape

  • Rulers and basic patternmaking tools

  • Pencils, markers, and tracing supplies

  • Sample pattern pieces

  • Basic sewing and design reference materials

  • Select mini happy hour drinks

What to Bring

Everything needed for class is provided. Guests are welcome to bring:

  • A notebook or sketchbook

  • A favorite garment for inspiration

  • Basic body measurements, if available

  • Your own patternmaking tools, if you have them

Who This Class Is For

This class is perfect for beginners, aspiring designers, sewing students, and anyone who wants to better understand how garments are shaped, adjusted, and created from patterns. No patternmaking experience is required. Basic sewing knowledge is highly recommended. 

Happy Hour Note

A mini happy hour with select drinks will be available. Guests must be 21+ to consume alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic options will also be offered.

Cancellation Policy

Due to limited seating and class preparation, all bookings are final. Guests may reschedule up to 48 hours before class, subject to availability. No-shows and same-day cancellations are non-refundable.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in, get settled, and choose your workspace. Class begins promptly at the scheduled time.
